| 388280 | 2005-09-14 02:08:00 | One of the users in the office has given me her home laptop to work on (I must learn to refuse home jobs). Anyway, she said she bought it through Trademe & on checking the machine, I found that it was full of the usual spyware/virus crap (no virus scan software installed, of course). Sorted all that out & thought I'd be helpful & install SP2. It extracts the files OK, but it then prompts for location of explorer.exe AVG reports trojan horse Downloader.Agent.6N in explorer.exe:gfhhu SFC found nothing unusual. Given that it has no Windows sticker on the machine, is it possible that it's not a legal copy & that SP2 reports an infected explorer.exe when it detects an illegal key? |

I'll try another scanner. Stinger isn't reporting it. Or I'll just copy explorer.exe from another XP box. |

I refer you to a previous post of yours where you state... There is no point in buying Windows XP these days. Especially with a new OS coming out sometime next year. Microsoft won't mind loosing another $500NZD. Just download from one of the million warez sites like any body in their right mind that hasn't got money to burn. (Not saying that I'm running an illegal Windows >.<) The original thread can be found here (www.pressf1.co.nz) If you use illegal software that is your prerogative to do so. Personally I do not care about your moral choices, however I would like to say this, not only are doing something illegal but you are also a LIAR!!! The former is of no consequence but the latter I think is something most F1er's do not and will not tolerate on this forum nor in their everyday lives.
