does it matter if you label cds with black vivid markers or not,
I dropped a line to Bruce that, I labeled a cd with black vivid and it skips, didnt skip before I labeled it,
could it be coincidence or some thing worse>?

thanks

387745 2005-09-12 04:46:00 If it was one of the big Vivid markers, the solvent might have got in and done some damage.

I would be reluctant to use any marker not "designed" for this application. I got a couple from the Warehouse recently. $2 for two "CD Marker pens".

Even with those, I press lightly. I suppose the safest would be to write small and only on the transparent hub. ;)

387746 2005-09-12 05:52:00 Ive mistakenly written with normal markers before and yep, it messed up some playback. Ink soaked through to the dye layer of the cd. Have done over 500 with a cd pen since, without any problems. Get a pack of a few colours and it helps make different groups of cds/dvds stand out... Mcpisik (4924)

387748 2005-09-12 06:15:00 You can get a pack of 4 coloured pens from places like Dick Smith Electronics which are designed for writing on CD's. :) Jen (38)
387749 2005-09-12 22:13:00 I've been using a Vivid for about 7 years now, even when Blank Kodak CD's were $20 each, and even they still work. Maybe it is the quality of the brand of CD's you are using? Dragonslayer (512)
387750 2005-09-13 00:09:00 HMM.........i ALWAYS use a 'dats' permanent 070 marker....it works well and never had any probs drcspy (146)
387751 2005-09-13 00:26:00 Blue Vivid here... No problems after 5 years bob_doe_nz (92)
387752 2005-09-13 01:11:00 I use a black Vivid on all brands of CDRW and no probs yet. I also use it on freezer bags and makes a hell of a mess staining the kitchen bench when defrosting... so suggest you don't get your CDs wet :D Shortcircuit (1666)
