388272 2005-10-17 08:54:00 I got ihug broadband, ihug direct dial tolls and Telecom faxability on all on the same line - all was OK before BBand - on dial up - but faxing out turned to custard when I got B Band.

Ihug told me there is no solution - it's some kind of non-compatability issue and I just have to dial 059 then the fax no. i.e. use Telecomonopoly for all my faxes :(

Not what I really wanted... but it works OK I just need to use Telecomonolpoly and I hate that!

And as for how long it took for Telecomonopoly to condescend to hook me up on ihug BBand...well....

388273 2005-10-17 10:11:00 Probably means that ihug direct dial tolls uses some form of low bit rate compression and/or VOIP that doesn't detect that you are sending a fax. You are probably lucky if voice sounds reasonable. PaulD (232)
388274 2005-10-29 21:19:00 Does any one no the protocol/prefix to fax to auastralia.
I can fax locally in nz but get the "No dail tone" error when trying to fax to brisbane oz.
Have tried the international code a few ways eg;
0011617 ........,
0011 61 7 ......,
+617........
but always get the "no dail tone" error.

Thanks.

388278 2005-10-30 00:47:00 Just a note here:

If one has DSL and also then uses their dial-up modem for FAX work, they are sitting ducks for Dialer/Hijackers . When you are using the DSL side, there is a chance that you might be getting misused on the Dialer side . . . . and you won't suspect a thing until the bill arrives from whatever phone company you use .

The sad part is that by international conventions, you are responsible for any and all uses . . legal or illegal . . . known or not known by you . You could be laundering money for some South American drug cartel or being zombied for kiddie-porn .

The general consensus is that when you are actually done using the fax/voice modem that you disconnect it .

There was a rather heated discussion at a local junior college here in my city that I attended about whether you would be able to depend on your anti-stuff to protect you from this while you are using the protection on the DSL side . Some said yes, others said no way! I'd rather err on the side of caution .

. . . . . . . . just a thought .
