I've just had problems setting up a LAN on a new laptop and finally took it to the shop that had sold me the Netgear Router/Modem. He had a job to set it up, and finally fixed it by taking out ZoneAlarm which I had previously installed. It's always worked OK on my desktop, but he says it's a lousy programme and gives him grief. Is it just him, I've always found him a very bright guy? |

I have no problems at all with ZoneAlarm. It probably wasn't configured correctly and he didn't know how so he rubbished it. |

I know a tech who says that and is really scathing about zonealarm. However I use it and never had any problems at all. |

ZA has always worked fine for me. Just remember to update it regularly, or select the automatic updating feature. The last time I looked, independent reviews rated ZA with thumbs up. |

with exception of a few bugs in some of the early vers i've never really had a problem with it, certainly not with it blocking lans. most comman problem is the lan adapter is often set on internet zone instead of trusted. when on internet zone netbios is blocked so the pc won't show in "network places" etc. |
