388511 2005-09-15 08:44:00 I am looking for an antivirus for Windows XP because I am tired of all that **** that tries to infect my PC. So far I looked into Kaspersky Antivirus (www.deprice.com) and McAfee Virus Scan (us.mcafee.com). Which one is better or should I pick something entirely different? deaddybear (5338)

388513 2005-09-15 09:11:00 Also satisfied with AVG. If you have lots of **** trying to infect your PC, the 1st thing you should do is work out where it's coming from because that's not normal. PaulD (232)

Yes AVG free version so far no virus since day one. I'm also using the purchased version of Webroot Spysweeper (1 Year Subscription expired Sept 2006) Zone Alarm (free version)
Since day 1 no problems.... :)

I totally agree with that and far prefer Avast to AVG myself.

The original poster is asking about Kaspersky and McAfee, however, and if I had to choose between those two I would go for Kaspersky.

388517 2005-09-15 09:52:00 My choice - AVG, Avast, Kaspersky in that order
As for hassles updating AVG, I've never had any issues

388518 2005-09-15 10:10:00 I use both AVG and Avast, though I prefer AVG over its counterpart. However, to avoid unnecessary collision, I disabled Avast resident shield while enable AVG's. (Prescott sure will add something to my statement)

Cheers :)

"while AVG was enabled""

plenty of other options avaiable but just to let you knoiw there was an oddity there.
