388431 2005-09-14 22:23:00 Hi
Due to a large amount of tripping around overseas coming up soon I've decided to purchase a Lappy
Can anyone see anything wrong with this one here (www.etccomputers.co.nz)
I like it cause it's the max the budget can handle, c/w bag, mouse, 2yr international warranty, 60Gb HD, 512DDR, Card Reader, Built in wireless, 15.4 Widescreen etc.
Only thing that bothers me is the Sempron 3000, how are these for cooling?
Any issues there?

Will be used for Dreamweaver, Photo editing (nothing too intensive) emails etc

Pricespy has some listed at $1512incl
Are there any other models at that price I should consider?
Thanks for any opinions.

Personally I would buy it, she has plenty of grunt, Nice size screen, features out its a-hole and the price is right.

But it will run hotter then a Centrino or similar.....

Thanks for that, what exactly do you mean by 'throttling software'

388434 2005-09-14 23:23:00 It underclocks the speed of the cpu, tirns off unused devices, dims the screen, and chucks her into standby at the drop of a pin. There is also a setting in the bios that does much the same.

What got up my goat (apart from all this software and its overheads) was that when I ran games there would be a lag when it ramped up to speed, At certain tasks that benifited from 100% cpu speed the cpu was still restricted to less then 80% percent to conserve battery speed, and If I have paid for raw power, then I want raw power, Not a laggy underpowered pile of crap more interested in not using whats under the hood.
