388854 2005-09-17 03:03:00 Now my icon for CCC has disappeared from quick launch bar.
I still get message on boot that I don't have authority to alter settings.
But I can still enter settings via desktop and I can alter and save settings.

I have uninstalled all ATI settings, useing the ATI uninstaller. But when I re-install drivers I get exactly the same message.

Get rid of CCC, it uses to much system overhead. Most performance users just download the ATI driver version without it. Its complete crap in my opinion (and many other peoples I have noticed in the forums), nearly everything CCC does can be done with the old style of driver, without the pain.

Sorry chief.
I have now removed catalyst and installed basic hydravision.
Only problem is how do I adjust colours and settings?

388858 2005-09-17 06:12:00 Have you installed Catalyst Control Panel? If you haven't then you won't be able to adjust any settings. I don't know if you're aware but Hydravision is ATi's software for multiple display management... it has nothing to do with colours or setting the screen resolution.

388859 2005-09-18 04:10:00 I still have the same problem.
Since yesterday I have removed all traces of Radeon from my comp.Useing the ATI uninstall. I have worked my way through the registry and removed EVERY mention of ATI and of Radeon.
I downloaded a fresh copy of the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI web page.

I installed the driver.

I reboot my comp. And up comes the message that I do not have "authority to alter settings" NOTE: I was not trying to alter settings!
I click on OK and it goes away.If I click on ATI icon that the download put on my desktop the message comes back.
BUT, if I go through desktop properties and click on "ATI Catalyst" I can change anything I want to.

It's got me beaten.

I might add I am the only user of comp. I am administrator. There are no other users.

Still sounds like you have the Catalyst Control Centre version running. As stated previously Catalyst Control Centre is a resource hog and tends to slow your computer. If you're not keen on using the ATi Control Panel version along with ATi Tool then you have 2 choices...

1) Put up with all the annoyances and access the display properties in the manner you state above ( I assume all you want is to be able to change the settings?) From what you say in your post you are achieving this.

2) Browse through a more technically orientated forum for graphics cards and display issues... my favourite is Guru3D (http://www.guru3d.com). Although I have to say that their advice is exactly the same as you've been given already.

Hope that helps.
