| 389753 | 2005-09-20 20:49:00 | I would be very grateful if anyone can help. I was having problems with shutdown in that Windows 98se hangs when shutting down. I was advised to make sure that disable fast shut down had a check mark. I checked, this was the case, unfortunately i unclicked the box but did not check the box back properly. I downloaded a patch to try to correct the hanging and the problem was even worse. Returned to Run-misconfig-advance and there was no longer listed disable fast shutdown. Any information would be appreciated | Susie (8929) | ||

I think the only way to get it back, is to uninstall that patch, you installed to fix it. Did u install the right videocard drivers, for the videocard thats in it?? If the system has been formatted recently? |

It would not be a good idea to try to go back to fast shut down. Speedys reference gives some avenues of approach, and so does the MS Knowledge Base: support.microsoft.com Win 98 does need frequent housekeeping cleans of registry, scandisking, defragging, emptying junk files etc. |
