| 389440 | 2005-09-20 11:05:00 | How old is the house wiring? Telecom only guarantee adsl performance on the new two-wire system (check their website). If your house is old, it could have a 3-wire system that doesn't use twisted pairs. That will not do your signal any good at all and if there is any electrical noise present, or if you are near the transmitter sites for the military communications network you will definitely have problems. Long telephone extension leads have a similar effect. Have a look inside an outlet, and if the cable is grey with red, blue, white & green wires it is old. If three wires are connected on the back of the phone socket, it is a 3-wire system. This could affect performance if you are more than 2-3 km from the exchange. Cheers Billy 8-{)??? For real?
