389254 2005-09-19 04:16:00 Toshiba Satilite Notebook; Windows XP home,
wont boot, error missing file system32\hal.dll
computer wont boot into safe mode
copied file onto a cd
tried copying from cd to c:\windows\system32 - received error "access denied"
pulled the hard drive, attached to desktop, tried copying to \windows\system32 from there also failed "Invalid MS-DOS function"

any suggestions.
I am trying to restore the system32\hal.dll without reformating or running the recovery cd.

again the computer will not boot at all, not even into safe mode.

Cheers
