390205 2005-09-22 11:55:00 Hi all,

A friend has asked me to have a look at their computer in the morning.
They downloaded Service Pack2 and loaded it up onto their computer but on restarting they found that the computer wouldnt logon. It starts to load then locks up before it gets to the logon screen then tries to start in safe mode but any attempt to get it to load in safe mode and it crashes and restarts again. This is all it does, over and over.

This is all the info i have at the mo. I will post some more info, maybe an error message if theres one, tomorrow.

I know its not much for yous to go on but was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get it to start, probably in safe mode so that it can try to be repaired.

The only other thing i was going to try if nothings available was a repair with the XP disc.

It's a P4, 2.4 ghz, 512 mb ram, 80gb hd (no partition, if that matters) with XP home and SP1 installed.

Thanks.

390206 2005-09-22 13:04:00 Have they tried "last known good configuration" at the F8 boot option instead of Safe Mode? allanl (1957)
