| 390051 | 2005-09-22 05:12:00 | How do you add file names to the Open With and Save As drop down menus please? The required files are displayed in the computer's files folder but I need to have them available when I want to Save and Open files in certain programmes. Computer is running Windows 98 and doesn't have as many tricks as WinsXP. The files are .paf (Personal Ancestral files) and GEDCOM and are associated with the downloaded PAF5 Programme (Personal Ancestral File) Thanks |

Only the program the extensions were made for, will open whatever file extension / format (ie: .paf etc). Unless there's some kind of install file, that installs like file filters for the programs u want to use these files in. |

| 390053 | 2005-09-22 05:25:00 | Hi katharinem .paf files will only open with the Personal Ancestral Programme Gedcom files are able to be opened with most Ancestral Programmes. The paf files will open with a double click on the file name or you can open the PAF program first Then click File>Open and select the .paf file from your selected folder. Any gedcom file can be opened from within the PAF program by clicking File>Import and selecting the gedcom file from your selected folder. :2cents: |
