389969 2005-09-21 09:25:00 No doubt about it iPods are marvellous ........
................however... I have played mine for only about 1/2 hour today (it was fully charged to start). When I got home - reasonably early - at about 5pm I put it straight on to charge and it is still charging. Am sitting here wanting to add some tunes... but you are only supposed to do that when it is fully charged, or you could have problems ! This is 3hrs 20mins later.

Now I do know that within two hours they are 80% charged .. but not fully charged. It is a conundrum ! You have to be dedicated !!!!!!!!!!!!!

389970 2005-09-21 09:37:00 Yes it appears the ipods do sit on charge for a long time. Don't worry about getting it fully charged before transferring songs it will be fine. If you unplug it now you'll probably find the battery indicates full charge. Lithium batteries don't need a full charge anyway, you won't hurt the battery. Sb0h (3744)

389973 2005-09-21 12:30:00 You read the instructions? (that's a good thing)

As far as I know though, the USB/Firewire interface also charges the iPOD; Depending on how low the power is would determine whether it is a good idea or not a good idea to transfer music. If there isn't enough power to do so, you'd risk corrupting it.

The only reason I really like iPODs is because of http://ipodlinux.org/

Linux on iPOD.

389974 2005-09-21 22:49:00 Yes as Mist says , an iTrip is a great add on. I find it fantastic if you're stuck in a motel or hotel . I've got 5GB of my favourite music on mine and just turn on the radio , click on the frequency you want and there you have it right on tap. Even at home you don't have to find C.Ds load them, return them after playing. It's the best invention since sliced bread. willbry (1555)

Hi Kame - I have read the instructions - they are pretty basic !!! :(

"Depending on how low the power is" - and that is the crucial question - as to how to determine this . My guess is that it is beyond the two hour charging point (-- to be sure --- to be sure) .

I will check the iPOd forum too - although that could take a couple of years to get through all the variables !!

389976 2005-09-22 09:44:00 I have two ipod nano with me and I don't like the ipod sound quality.

I rather go for creative...I find ipod isn't that big a deal.Just that people exagerated the name making it popular. So goes for Sony.I tried the nwhd5.Not enough bass.Sound quality adequate and sonic stage sucks!!

I tune on the other hand is alot easier to use...But I rather go for creative where just drag and drop the mp3

Hi Willbry
If you are on the road quite a bit, then you must find that when you are say in one city and go to another that the frequency that is free is being used at the other location . For instance, here in Auckland I use frequency 96 . 4, but when I visited friends in Hamilton that frequency has a station using it . Means have to change to another frequency that is not being used in the Hamilton area . :waughh:

What are your experiences on this please ?
Misty :)

389978 2005-09-23 09:34:00 Hi Misty. I use 88 in Auckland but find it is no problem to find a blank frequency and tune the ipod to it. There are just so many iTrip frequencies available - Mine has a frequency available for every decimal fraction between 80 and 108 so there's never a problem and at home have a preset for every radio in the house at "88' so I can listen to my own music where ever I happen to be. Happy listening. willbry (1555)
