| 389912 | 2005-09-21 07:49:00 | My AVG av has just stopped "I-worm.bagle.gen" Looking it up on Google I see it says Bagle is a mass-mailing worm that was found on 18th of January, 2004. The worm sends messages with the subject 'Hi' and random EXE attachment names. The worm installs a backdoor to infected machines. Bagle has been programmed to stop spreading on 28th of January. Because AVG has just stopped it on my system then the info that it will stop spreading on 28.01.04. seems optimistic and/or misleading. Keep your anti-virus (no matter what it is !) up to date !! As godfather says The best is, and will always be, the one that has the most recent definitions released by the maker, and applied by the user. Everything else is relative to these basic principles. However, to be extra sure, I downloaded the Symantec tool. It ran and did something I think. When it said all had finished I tried to close, then cancel, but whatever I did it just went in a loop and got the same messages then back to the same alternatives. Just consolidates what I think of Symantec !! Thanks anyway, Speedy :nerd: |
