| 389908 | 2005-09-21 06:19:00 | hi i am a 16yr old who is pretty good with computers. I am trying to network a Win XP home PC with and Win98 (not SE) machine. I want to use TCp/IP protocol but am really unsure how to go about it. All guides on the internet say something about Ip addressing. I tried and failed at this. At the current time i got both networked through IPX/SPX which is really slow and Win98 cannot "see" Xp but can mapped hdds. My aim is to share files and a HP PSC 1200 printer and WinXP has DVD drive and 98 CDRW i want to have them shared Any help or guide wood b great thankyuo |

| 389909 | 2005-09-21 08:17:00 | Drop IPXD/SPX and install TCP/IP and NetBEUI instead. Works like a dream for W98 & W95 +W2K. I am not sure if XP offers NetBEUI, and from a previous thread I think you might have to add it in from another source. Somebody more knowledgeable than I am will doubtlessly put you right.
