389833 2005-09-20 23:05:00 I have a problem. My c drive is an old 10gig drive. My d drive is a 160gig replacement. My computer boots out of the c drive. I want it to boot out of the d drive so I can replace the c drive with a large unit I can run as a copy of the d drive. I have suggested using partition magic to my computer repairer, and booting out of a partition, but he doesn't think it can be done. Somehow, without doing a complete re-install, I want to get everything onto the one drive. Any advice appreciated.

What version of Windows is installed on the 10GB??

If XP, you may have to do a repair install, if you're going to copy whats on c to the 160 GB hdd. Or I would reinstall Windows, and use C (the 10 GB), as the slave.

Then connect the 160GB drive as master, and the 10GB as slave, and hopefully, Windows will boot from and re-detect the 160GB hard drive.
