390597 2005-09-25 00:32:00 Sometimes i get the error " The resource '/home/hip/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf' is locked by application 'kontact'. " when attempting to add things to my address list .
I find this error odd as i am already in "Kontact" and both Kmail and Address book are part of the kontact suite.

Sometimes when i log in and Kontact starts automaticly it doesnt quite do it. What happens is a similar message suggesting that kontact might allready be running and only to start Kontact if i am sure that another copy isn't allready running.

The process table shows Kontact running, and none of its components.

Its a tad annoying, its not a constant event, and i'd like it to stop!

390598 2005-09-25 03:48:00 It sounds like KDE is loading your previous session when you log onto the destkop. Do you close Kontact before logging off the machine? You can remove that locked file by shutting down Kontact and then going into ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/lock and deleting the lock file. Jen (38)
390599 2005-09-25 08:09:00 I get the same error as i shutdown, but once i do and i restart kontact, all is good........

I'll actively shut Kontact down before i log out tonight, and see what happens in the mornink.

Kontact is set to start automaticly when i log in.. this is when the error is most common.

390600 2005-10-09 21:03:00 Yip..That's that sorted!

Now that i am shutting Kmail/Kontact down before i log out or shut down, the problems with locked files and resources has gone away.....

Thanks Jen! :D

390601 2005-10-10 04:04:00 Good to hear you got it sorted! You shouldn't really have to close down your apps before logging out, but in this case there is obviously something which prevents it closing down cleanly and gets carried over to your new session when you log back in. Might be worth keeping an eye out for a update which addresses this. :) Jen (38)
