390550 2005-09-24 22:05:00 I have a new computer (5 months old) running Windows XP (Home).

I have a Realtek AC’97 audio sound card (I assume this is the sound card). Has been working okay until recently. When I start the computer it does not work, go to device manager and the message is “device cannot start (code 10)”. If you uninstall and reinstall then it works, but once the computer is turned off and restarted the same problem occurs.

This problem has started since I down loaded AVG from Grisoft. Could there be a conflict here?

I am not technical so please any suggestions welcomed but please make it simple

Check the motherboard manufacturers website for driver updates :)

Personally I would suggest that AVG has nothing to do with it, and its mearly coincidence.
If you are worried that AVG has caused it, try another free Anti-virus app: Avast (Avast4Home)
