1391257 2014-12-30 06:03:00 Want to know are PUP really dangerous . Some Sites say "NO" they are just unwanted program while other sites say " Maybe" and "Yes" .

I have seen and read almost all antivirus don't detect this as a program but i have seen only malwarebytes detecting this .

Another question is i have seen this happening with chrome on my android phone , all most everyday when i browse , i see chrome blocks a thing known as "POP UP " . I looked up on google it is relating to advertisement but can it be some sought of virus .

So far my avast antivirus on android phone does'nt detect something bad .

1391258 2014-12-30 06:58:00 As you have discovered there is no yes or no answer. It depends on what they are. PUP's means potentially unwanted program-- so if you install a program, and theres something extra attached that you dont know about its a PUP.

Some PUP's can contain sinister extra's others dont. Some web Sites will have PUPS embedded that will auto install a program without your knowledge, these can be anything from infections to programs. See screen shot below.

Most of the time any PUP 's that install will want money from you to work. A classic example is some so called "antimalware program" says you have X number of infections or problem -- Surprise to remove them you need to fork out $$ - in reality the program is the infection.

Now I use the word infection on purpose, to many people say they have a virus, when in fact they dont, they have malware, which is slightly different.

Some Antivirus programs work better than others, take a look at the Nod32 Log,I haven't included the site in the Pic for what should be obvious safety reasons.

This log goes back to October: ;)

Maybe yes maybe no, but what ever is being blocked is triggering to say its something unwanted and shouldn't be there.

1391260 2014-12-31 06:19:00 Again , no simple yes or no answer ;) . Some pop ups are just that, annoying, others can contain "extra's ;) What can happen is a pop up appears, but when you close it then it can activate something else. Often by cleaning out the temp internet files you will remove some troubles.

These types of pop up infections are not just dedicated to Windows either. Since you also use MAC's they can be infected, and its getting more and more common.

Heres an example: malwaretips.com NOTE: the page is safe.

AND direct instructions from Apple: support.apple.com

Dont know if you remember - I had this type of thing a few weeks back on a old MAC.
