| 1390867 | 2014-12-25 05:12:00 | I have been told that the product key for a copy of the windows xp pro os is hidden in one of the files that make up the os. Firstly, is this correct? and secondly, where is it. I have been given a copy of the said os but the copier could not give the product key as he did not know it or where to find it. Can anyone here help me please. TIA Spooky |

| 1390870 | 2014-12-25 06:06:00 | You'll need a key finder as tbird posted to read the actual Key. Its in the registry, and even if you looked in the right location you wouldn't be able to read it. Its in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ In value "DigitalProductId" = Product key Just a side not -- "in case" its not actually a legit key, there is one way to find out ( works 99% of the time). Once you get the key from keyfinder, copy / paste it into a google search. "IF" its pirated you'll get results, if its not you wont find anything. Only one reason for posting that comment -- Seen plenty of W7 Pro's where the owner cant supply a product key, and sometimes its because its pirated. |
