After the Wellington earthquake we put duct tape onto the TV's stand to the cabinet :D |

My last 4 TV's have all included a strap to allow you to secure the base down to the cabinet and my tilt and swivel cantilever wall mount bracket only cost about $130 from an online supplier. I always have home and contents insurance but when stuff like that happens to me It doesn't immediately occur to me to make an insurance claim but as people have mentioned that's what it's for. Depending on the value and your excess of course. |

| 1378811 | 2014-07-09 20:04:00 | by not buying insurance would have paid for the TV replacement. But insurance is mainly for those big disasters....you come home and find the burglars have cleaned the place out, or the house burns down or such......the savings on no insurance wouldn't cover all that.... There are a lot of examples, just this week someone who lost a house (and contents) is said to have not been insured..... Down South there was a house fire (on rental) and tenants had no insurance. People were being helpful, giving them clothes and stuff, landlord came down and was sympathetic...he was insured of course on the house. But even so, insurance companies tend to chase the tenants for that sort of thing - normally contents would have covered them for damage to the premises. |

| 1378812 | 2014-07-10 23:56:00 | Ive been without home insurance for 15+ years . Saved me thousands . But now, after having a tree fall down & hit the side of the house in the last storm, Im thinking its time to get insurance . However, not having insurance meant I got everything fixed & tidied up quickly & with zero hassles. The aborist said one old guy had a tree smash through his living room & insurance are just giving him the run around. |
