1378785 2014-07-08 05:55:00 They run on a version of Android www.vertu.com

Just spotted an article about them in the Herald (www.nzherald.co.nz)

Apparently they are going after the Bentley owners market.

1378786 2014-07-08 06:21:00 If I cared about smartphones, I'd want one of these. Yum. pctek (84)

Darn! If you lived here in the Bay, I would lend you mine for a couple of weeks tryout!

hehehe :)

Personally I think they look like they have been over pimped and definitely over priced - considering they are running what is essentially a free OS.

1378790 2014-07-08 11:13:00 Cheaper by the dozen though, old boy! LoL KarameaDave (15222)
1378791 2014-07-09 04:10:00 Way overpriced - the target market is iPhone owners, since it's the natural inclination of an iPhone owner to pay more for a phone than what it's worth.... johcar (6283)
1378792 2014-07-09 05:38:00 Perhaps it is to go over the mantlepiece, beside the jewel encrusted version of the gold case Sinclair calculator.

It is sort of like a self-imposed iDiot tax. ;)

I doubt that it is aimed at iPhone owners, more like Bentley owners who want a phone that complements the design and price of the car. I can see some Dubai oil Sheiks buying them for their harems of wives to go with their collections of Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Buggatti Veyrons lined up in their massive garages.

The retro "add bits because you can" design of the Bentley phone doesn't fall into the "remove bits until you have only what is needed" design concept of an iPhone.

I would seriously doubt that they are targeting JUST Bentley owners .

There is a jewellery store in Queen Street that has these phones on display, although I wouldn't be particularly surprised to find them supplied by Giltrap Prestige as well .

This phone is targeted at those who mistakenly think they have style and fashion sewn up and who have too much disposable income and no clue how to spend it with class and common sense .

Much like your average iPhone owner . . . . :p

I also don't think your description of iPhone as "remove bits until you have only what is needed" comes anywhere near reality .

More like: "We will build a phone with some features stolen from other OS's (but loudly proclaim as our innovations), but only with features *we* think are suitable, because we know our customers' needs better they do . And to convince everyone that our product is the best, we will charge far more for it than we should . "

Not quite as snappy as your description, but far more accurate . . .

:D
