1378435 2014-07-05 21:03:00 Looks like the Crown will Appeal Judge Philippa Cunningham decision www.nzherald.co.nz

Will be interesting how this plays out as Paki already has a colourful background and does not want to succeed his Father and just wants to hang out with the bros

The first son is invalid apparently so it is number 2 son

Rolf Harris should have elected to be tried here by Philippa Cunningham ;)

Well, with the exception of the Democrats, that are untested, his track record is probably better than the others, which goes to show what we’re up against.

1378437 2014-07-05 21:12:00 What makes the judge's decision more useless, is that the Maori King (or Queen) is not a hereditary position but an elected one.
The only reason why the current King took over from his mother is that Tuku Morgan saw it as an opportunity for him to be the "power behind the throne" and pushed very hard for him to be voted in.

Unlikely (hopefully) that he can do that twice and with luck, they may get someone with a brain and plenty of plain common sense when the current King moves on.

There is an interesting background to all this nonsense.

Have a read of THIS (en.wikipedia.org) to start your day with a laugh.

She lived a wild and promiscuous life. She was given ariki status and developed an arrogant and demanding personality and was often in conflict with her family and whanau over her many partners such as Tom Paikea, Paraire Herewini, Roy Secombe,Te Tahi Iwikau, Rawiri Katipa and her drunken bickering - a lifestyle she later came to bitterly regret.

What a feral ratbag.

She was unable to have children.

Thank God for that!

Back when I was at school, as it still is, you had to have some Maori lineage to play in some sports teams and engage in some other activities.

The standard reply when asked, for those without, was “Yes, my father slept with Princess Te puea”.

By way of observation it seems that was not the correct answer.

1378440 2014-07-06 00:29:00 I guess she demonstrated some selectivity by sleeping with at least one pakeha (Tom Paikea, Paraire Herewini, Roy Secombe,Te Tahi Iwikau, Rawiri Katipa).

Wonder if that was Harry's bro?

To expand on the fact this is not a hereditary position but an elected one: "elected" meaning the "election" had all the hallmarks of most elections ... politics, manipulation behind the scenes, promises, backhanders, perks - travel, bribes, power, and expenses. And who better than the "power behind the throne" to orchestrate this?

I don't think Paki is knowingly behind this apparent rort, from all accounts he's a pleasant enough bloke albeit one who should have stuck to truck driving and not to have listened to the false prophets.

They Secombe here, they Secombe there, they seek him everywhere.

But whilst we are laughing at these clowns, there seems to be some that don't see the funny side.

"It seems that a review of Tainui's executive spending by the new
Chair, Tania Martin, into Tuku's joint role as 'Executive Chairman'
and 'Chief Negotiator' means he's been pulling more than $360,000 in
fees plus "phenomenal spending by the executive", with over half-a-
million in fees for members in seven months".

Gotta disagree on that one, I think he's worse. Even compared to the others, he avoids questions, is arrogant, rude, and slimy - and looking at the competition, that's quite an achievement!
