1378473 2014-07-06 22:34:00 Yep and its a PITA

Often people will only give a mobile number. If I have to call them back on a mobile Its VERY quick and to the point, or if they want to talk I tell them to call me or give a landline number. WHY - you may ask ?? Simple, you call a mobile its costs the caller $$$, not the person receiving the call.

A few months back I looked at my normal monthly bill as it was higher than normal -- WTF  the charges for calling Mobiles on its own was close to $300, previous months were $150 -$200. So the Telcos certainly are winning on that one.

Had one person say to me, her friends dont call as much now ever since she dumped her land line- gee wonder why

But for most people, their included minutes cover calls to mobiles or landlines, so it becomes irrelevant. If you're regularly paying $150+/month in mobile calling, you may want to consider a change in your phone service. Both major telcos offer mobile plans for under $100/month with unlimited calling.

Yeah that rather annoys me too.

1378475 2014-07-07 00:31:00 Land line calls to my teenage daughters have long stopped. They prefer mobile calls/text and Facebook. My nieces the same. Having a landline often means others answer (parents that is), whereas mobile means better privacy and versatility using social media, chat (viber app I'm told) and text.

Surely for business users in addition to mobile, having a face book page/blog/website can also help communicate and engage with customers.

Some of the telcos you have to specify a number to get discounts, bit hard when running a business and you could get anyone in NZ calling you.

As I mentioned before NOW if anyone wants to talk and I have to call a Cell, I tell them to call me back. Had a couple ask why - And when I say because you want to yak about nothing, you can pay. ( several have said thats why they wanted people to call them so they don't have to pay) Now the last couple of Mobile bills have been around $30.

Not changing Telcos, because of the Plans / Package Deal we are on, faster than most on the internet, Free unlimited toll calls to any land line in NZ, TV, Phones both two lines ( one private one business) + 3 Cell accounts, NO ONE can match Vodafone/Telstra.

Back on subject -- the paper invoice, if a person still wants an invoice and not Via the internet its only $18 a year - BIG DEAL, MANY people blow more than that on junk when doing shopping. Have one less packet of smokes / year and it will pay for it.

1378477 2014-07-07 01:50:00 I sometimes get texts asking me to call them back. That reeks of cheapskate. You got my number, YOU call me! Renegade (16270)
1378478 2014-07-07 02:52:00 Unless they changed it BNZ Telebanking doesn't allow cellphone calls. Either from a landline or call or the 09 number might work.

Yeah, someone here yakked about why don't we get rid of our landline not sure if UFB have one. We save $15 they yakked. My reply was then how are parents in their retiree years gonna use it (by calling overseas) ... and who's gonna call them if it's gonna cost the caller.

Someone I know in the past he would call me and quickly hang up. Didn't even send a SMS. :D

1378480 2014-07-07 03:28:00 Why should I be expected to pay for paper invoices ? None of the other junkmail involves a fee. R2x1 (4628)

Yep, why. We don't get mail at all anymore.....all bills are either emailed, or I log in and view them. It's great. Snail Mail = parcels.
