1390940 2014-12-26 23:41:00 I dont know what the specs are I cant find the info on the site. Because of the lack of ram, its slow. It took like over 12 hrs to install 147 or so updates lol.

Looks like it uses ddr 2 sodimms. Its got one stick of 533 ram in it. 2 ram slots

But its got firewire, dvd writer, wireless / a wireless switch on the side. Which is dual band. It supports 2.4 / 5 ghz, vga port, no hdmi, I think there's a ps/2 port on the side, card reader at the front, with volume control, and headphone/mic input on the front.

3 USB ports, and LAN. And also fingerprint scanner under the lid. All I can tell you is, its a Satellite A100. The model doesnt bring up anything on the site. probably because its pretty old

I've tried Mint on it now which is a bit faster at moving online than windows. Once it gets into Mint

ok 533 ram is not good for windows 7 or 8 , since if im right windows 32 bit requires 1gb of ram and 64 bit is 2gb of ram , i know xp should work on 533 ram . Other specs look fine to mine , just the ram that matters .

If im right toshiba satellite are reliable thought in past and still heating issuing is seen so thats the only problem .

I will get back to you if i lose the buy now on trademe , thanks for help speedy much appreciated.

1390941 2014-12-26 23:45:00 Dont know if it goes any higher higher than 533. Thats why its slow its under 1 GB. But if I get more ram for it it'll probably run OK. I think it can support up to 4 GB

XP was on this but I wiped it. It was full of junk. And thats why the person gave it away. Because no more updates

1390942 2014-12-26 23:57:00 Ok , i actuallly have windows 7 and windows 8 iso , so whats your opinion shall i go for it since u said it seems to be a better quality than general consumner products ??? Totally up to you if its got the specs you want. Really depends on what you want to do with it. Business class Laptops do last longer generally.

Power Wise -- I got windows 10 Preview on a Old Laptop I was given, AMD Athlon 1.6ghz CPU with 4GB RAM, its not going to win any power competitions but runs W10 just fine . (better than some customers Laptops with higher power) and does what I want it to do.

Have a read of these couple of articles, gives a clearer picture:laptops-for-work-and-play-the-differences-that-matter.html (www.pcworld.com) and whats_the_better_buy_a_consumer_or_a_business_lapt op_.html (www.pcworld.com op_.html) and smallbusiness.chron.com

The only Business Laptop I had in the workshop over the last 4 years was only here because it got used as a "bounce test model" by the owner :xmouth: OOPS.

Edited: if you were going to change the OS, I'd use W8.1, its got better power management than W7 on lower spec Laptops.

Thanks wainuitech for that i just looked at one of our home computer , it has 2.0 ghz , amd althlon 2, 2gb ram , seems to get slow when more than one account is create , the more i create the slow it gets , so now i just have like three accounts , still slow not as fast as before .

Yes i had windows 8.1 is better in many ways than 7 but im not a fan of new look , find it hard to use but hopefully one day i like it .
