Not supported help section said, only headset n keyboard but in kinloch nz eg no cellphone reception anyway so WiFi hotspot no use. .... Bluetooth on android will not teether, I can turn it into hotspot mode but the phone features turns off. ... phone turns into a router.
You won't be able to tether or blue tooth to the iPad from the android for obvious reasons ;)
I'm guessing he doesn't have a land line or wifi where he is?

1379006 2014-07-12 13:15:00 We have ufb but he doesn't have a GPS smartphone for on move. Useful to see the 10 inch map thou afterall it has the map icon. Nomad (952)
1379007 2014-07-12 23:38:00 iPads can use Wifi for GPS triangulation ( when using a landline) ipad.about.com
but since iDevices won't hot spot or share blue tooth with Android ( for competitive reasons) it sounds like he may need to swap his Android phone for an iPhone.

My Android hotspot works with it. However bluetooth doesn't work for file transfers (probably by design) but they use AirDrop to transfer files next to each other with yeah .. only iDevices  Well, the major players are Android and iOS so how do people share videos and photo's. Beam it to cloud using mobile data and beam it back down again to the person sitting right next to them - haha. Could be a few hundred MB consumed on mobile data on a single sit down session. :illogical:

Illogical, yes but a business decision designed to get more customers using iDevices rather than Android devices.

1379010 2014-07-13 22:15:00 Android devices will happily share their connection with iOS devices, laptops, anything!

Also, many WiFi-only Android tablets such as the Nexus 7 still have a GPS chip in them, even though they don't have 3G connectivity.

I can't speak for AirDrop but I know if you're using Android Beam it's direct device <-> device, no internet required :D

And that's why I don't use iThings ;)

Hense the reason for an open competitive market although I agree that it can definitely get frustrating a customer buys a couple of devices from different companies that don't or won't communicate with each other to perform certain tasks that are normally quite easy to perform. Most of the time Google can help solve the problem but not always.

Of course 15+ years ago Microsoft pretty much did the same thing by any means necessary in order to maintain it's strangle hold on the PC market.
