I had 2k sp4 installed and the fan in my laptop (Compaq 700 AMD 1300 Mobile) would only come on when the system was under load. I've had to change to XP SP2 (new install) and now the fan is on all the time when the computer is running, bloody annoying noisy thing. I have speedswitchXP running, even set the cpu speed to 450mhz but fan will not switch off even though system is nice and cool and not under any load. Also configured the power options to all the relevant settings: speedswitch control, minimal power management and maximum battery. None of them made any difference. I'm not running a wireless mouse or keyboard. Can anyone help as to why the fan stays on all the time under XP SP2? |
