| 392091 | 2005-09-29 23:01:00 | I have a PC that when I plug in a hard drive into the slave position of the primary IDE channel it will be corrupted once windows boots up. I can see the drive in bios O.K. If the hard drive is plugged in as the master on the secondary channel the hard drive is fine. The problem is at the stage that one hard drive has now failed, any hard drive plugged in as a slave will be corrupted, in that I can see it in disk management, but needs to be enabled and formatted to work. Any ideas? I'm thinking a problem in the motherboard |

| 392092 | 2005-09-30 04:46:00 | Have a good look at the jumper options available on the other (master) drive on the primary IDE controller. It might have options like "Master with no slave", Master with Slave present". Some manufacturers didn't properly implement the ATA standards on some of their drives. If the master doesn't actually [b[know[/b] there's a slave drive present it will work as if there isn't. The consequences might be unwanted. ;) | Graham L (2) | ||
