Go to Documents and Settings\administrator\local settings\temporary internet files\content IE5\ This or a similar path (administrator may have ben replaced by another name) will lead you to a batch of folders with strange names like FnFc7ckjl This will have graphic & other files from the internet. These folders can safely be erased - ignore the warning about needed for windows - they will be replaced automatically (well mine are!!). You may have difficulty in seeing some files - make sure your program shows up hidden files first. And of course check all the other good advice given. The files can be anywhere! Tom |

2005-09-28 23:35:00 | Cookies? Cookies are text files that indicate what sites have been visited, The images are entirely different and stored in the cache, The idea being that they load directly off the hd when you next visit the site, making the site load faster. Which just happens to be another completely bollocks idea, as after a boatload of files are cached it takes longer for many systems to find and display them then it does to just download the image. At the worse end of the spectrum i see people with 2GB or more assigned to temp internet files. I have 1mb dedicated to it, and even then i resent it...

2005-09-29 00:07:00 | yes....and.....no.... The data is also collected under the user profiles, quite deep in the folder tree.Crap cleaner will get rid of most of it, yet the folders still have to be manually cleaned and inspected. Porn sites are also notorious for installing dialers, regenerating shortcuts, toolbars, browser hijacks, malicious Active-X controls and Browser Helper objects, Trojan horses, add-serving software etc etc etc. etc etc etc etc etc etc and so on and so forth....

2005-09-29 05:32:00 | i would suggest go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files and delete everything i would then look through the windows folder... then hit start<run<type regedit, then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE<SOFTWARE<MICROSOFT<WINDOWS<RUN and then look for suspicious stuff in there... Also run avg ad-aware spybot s&d and any other scanner u might wanna run. | CorbinH (37) | |
2005-09-29 07:41:00 | Just run the usual antispyware, antivirus stuff as usual - cause it will be infested. Then delete all the pics that have been downloaded. Search for .jpg or .bmp or whatever formats they may be in. Having a firewall etc won't help much if the person is deliberately downloading the stuff. Perhaps he should get his own PC if he is going to continue to view stuff the kids shouldn't see. No, but it can be useful to prevent popups, dialers, block sites, back doors, activieX, etc. It's to kill the symptoms and protect the wee ones sensiblities, more than anything else. Plus it's just good policy to have one, properly set up.
