391768 2005-09-28 14:17:00 I got ISOBuster from tucows to try and recover my photos which seemed to have become damaged on my CDRW. I registered & paid for it and its now the full version :)
The CDRW was burned/made with INCD
Problem is that when I select any of the extraction methods, Nothing happens. The files do not copy onto the HDD.

Anyone know any other really good CDRW recovery tools? :(

The CDRW itself does not look physically damaged.

391769 2005-09-28 19:12:00 why would you be using isobuster to recover photo files from a cd ? they surely wont be in iso format ?

get this program and use it it's a free for personal use......

391770 2005-09-28 22:19:00 I would be inclined to boot Knoppix and try dd'ing the CD to the HDD, then mounting it as a UDF partition (It is UDF thats packet writing, right? Maybe its too early in the morning) Chilling_Silence (9)
391771 2005-09-28 23:03:00 Isouster (http://www.isobuster.com/) should do exactly what bob_doe_nz needs.

Unfortunately i've never used it, so unable to help. I do have a few dodgy CD's at home, might install it & see what I can do with them.

391772 2005-09-28 23:07:00 It _should_ :-/

Try finding a "How-To" or something on restoring UDF discs with it :)

I know, Ive used ISOBuster before on both UDF and ISO9660 discs, its worth its weight in gold !

391773 2005-09-29 00:38:00 Well ISOBuster DOES work at showing most of the files that were on the disk.
The only problem comes when I try to extract. None of the methods listed will copy the files onto the HDD.

So now I am trying another program, DVD Data Rescue.
Now all I have to do is wait for it to finally finish reading the bloody thing to see if viewing will work...

391774 2005-09-29 08:28:00 Try Smart Recovery from Convar or it's image equivalent from the same people, sorry can't remember it's name. Both free. Murray P (44)
391775 2005-09-29 10:00:00 Well, CD/DVD Data Rescue works.
I can now preview some of the "lost" photos on the damaged CDRW.
But to save to HDD I have to pay :(
And neither me nor any of my immedieate family have Credit Cards :angry
Easy come easy go...

I'll give that Data recovery program a go tomorrow Murray
