392779 2005-10-02 01:43:00 Just in the past day, I'm having problems with my Internet Explorer. First, when I open IE, it "loses access" (the title bar for IE is greyed out and eventually comes back but this just started and its really annoying).

Secondly, just in the past 5 hours or so, I load IE and it loads my home page, but before it finishes, it locks up and I have to "end task"...it does this for more than just my homepage. It is doing it for a lot of pages without warning.

Third, and lastly, I just installed Zoo Tycoon on my computer...in the middle of gameplay, it just exits the game. I have been on the forum for the game and done what it said, but to no avail.

**The game was installed AFTER the problems with IE started, so I know the game is not causing those IE problems.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Forgot to mention that I have run Adaware, Spyblaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, and AVG anti virus. All 4 have found and cleaned/fixed problems.

392780 2005-10-02 01:47:00 Well the easy and lazy answer to this one is to dump Internet Explorer and replace it with Mozilla Firefox, which can be downloaded here (http://www.mozilla.or)

cheers

392782 2005-10-02 02:06:00 Running Windows XP with 1GB RAM, 2 . 4GHz .

A LOT of viruses this time . I hit some BAD pop ups yesterday and I know thats where it came from . . . but get this . . . i had over 1800 "infected files" which were all healed/removed . MOST of them were in the "System Volume Information Restore" folder, which is usually where most viruses I have are . If it helps, most of the "viruses" that were listed were Trojan horse something . OY .

With Adaware and Spyware stuff, I got the usual problmes that were fixed . All I see is stuff about MRUs and such on those logs .

The game has done this once before and I forgot what I did to fix it, but I have never had the problem with IE before . . . with it "losing control" and freezing all the time liek this .

I also checked to see if those little programs were installed liek when the pop ups came, and there were some and so I uninstalled those . I have done everythign I know to do with it and still to no avail .

eeer . I think the safest easiest recommendation is a re-install of Windows .

The problem with a virus scanner "cleaning" the files is it is eliminating the virus code, but not necessarily fixing the actual file damaged . And as your still having problems . . . . .

As I say to people in situations like this, you can spend the next 10 hours piddling around with it, until you reach the point of re-installing anyway after you become annoyed enough .

or

Reinstall now, maybe only 1 . 5 hours and near guarteened fix .

Seriously its time for a fresh re-install, then load good AV and spyware protection .
