393396 2005-10-04 08:25:00 I am trying to instal win xp pro on my p1 on an already formated NTFS 20GB partition but to do this i have to boot from disk in order to instal and it comes up "Operating System Not Found" even when i have set the bios to boot from CD then HDD, and yes the disk is bootable. anyone have any ideas? 393397 2005-10-04 08:38:00 Normally even with the boot order to bootfrom CD first you still have to tell the PC to do this when it boots up. It will ask if you want to boot from the CD. Is it giving you this option? berryb (99)

393399 2005-10-04 18:49:00 No it does not even give me that option, after the system check it goes straight into saying "Operating System Not Found".
I thought of the spec but with the win xp disk i have i done an autocheck to check if win xp will run booting from the original HDD and it said the specs were enough and plus i know someone who is running it on even lower specs than mine

393400 2005-10-04 19:08:00 If you have set it to boot from the cd first, and its not doing that, then you have a problem with the cd-drive or the disc itself.
Have you checked all connections to the cd-drive (data/power) and the connections to the motherboard from the drive.

AS far as installing XP to a P1, unwise, the P1 is below minimum specs and you will probably find xp crashes a lot.

393401 2005-10-04 21:06:00 I have tried about three different CD drives and that disk has recently been used to install xp on another computer and all of the connections are fine they have been working for about half a year with no probs HAD (9015)

I think you may be wasting your time. Even if you get XP to install you might find that Microsnot will not give you an activation code as the CD has been used to install th OS on another system. That is unless you have a multi user licence.
