| 394279 | 2005-10-10 04:50:00 | Anyone else, please reply! As you wish :) I dont really have a Best OS, as any OS that I thought was the "best" was not so instead the OS's I liked are: 1. Windows XP Professional (as I am currently using it & I have had no/or not many problems with it) 2. Windows ME ( Yes, it was not the best OS MS put out but if they fixed there system resoues problem then it might of done better & I might be still using it today) & Apple Mac OS (Yes a Windows users does like the Mac, but this is the older version of there OS, I have not yet used there newest version) My :2cents: |

| 394281 | 2005-10-10 07:40:00 | I use many OSs in my world. windows XP - nice easy home PC feel. windows 2K - good for the office enviroment. free BSD - runs a nice web server and it free. solaris - its what comes with the SUN gear. HP-UX - sometimes we have to use an OS we dont like :-) As has been said in this thread already..... each OS has its use, each has its strong points and its faults. many people will knock windows as being bad, most of them use it every day, a lot of them have never use anything else. often people use an OS because its what they know and they may never change. as to which it the best for YOU to shell out the $$ for.... as long as you know how to use it and it gets the your job done then its all good. /rant |

And sorry if there is any good shel styles out there that u know of, please give me a link (unquote) I'm using Windowblinds (had styleXP but got annoyed at the 'compulsory' advertising you had to download with their themes). There is a nice clean theme/shell style for W/blinds called Vista iy!n that is transparent. I think anything that's not the MS XP style with all those glaring icons and '80s' design ethos is good. For me it's not that it is a 'take' on what Vista might look like, but that it is a clean and unobtrusive style. As for being gay, well I've been accused of more horrendous things style-wise :D |

| 394286 | 2005-10-15 04:12:00 | Yep, Windowblinds ain't half bad. You can get beta5 from Stardock: www.stardock.com (might have to wait a while as I've tried a few web sites over that side of the world and they're all down/not connecting) But I think only if you buy/paid up subscriber. Note it's a bit of a run around if you purchase.... you have to set up an account, pay, then download a program/browser called 'Stardock Central', which will then download WB5 beta) Could be best to stick with the nag screen for now ;) The 'standard' Windowblinds is still free. |
