394261 2005-10-08 00:50:00 You missed one OS out. The Commodore Amiga OS was and is still far superior to anything around today,

394262 2005-10-08 01:30:00 Go with a multi-boot.

Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000, Windows 98 Second Edtion, and one or two Linux Distros, and of course Windows 3.1

I'd pass on Windows ME and DOS. And Mac OSX

394264 2005-10-08 01:55:00 9 times I have written a post in this thread and then deleted it.

You can all thank me for that.

Anyhow, XP home is the best choce for the average user. I won't go into detail . If you doubt it then try a Linux.

Apple gear doesn't apply unless you already own a mac in which case your already using an Apple OS and cant really try the alternatives. Mac heads claim its better....which is like asking someone in a holden hat ,holden shirt, holden pants ,holden sunglasses, sporting a Holden tattoo and who has changed their name to Holden which is better.....Ford or Holden?
FORD
