393950 2005-10-06 16:25:00 Hi there.

We have three PCs connected to a home LAN, all running WinXP, all contain up to date AVG7, Spybot, AdAware & Pestpatrol.

One PC continues to get hit by reoccuring popups from NZDating.com, despite being cleaned up numerous times with the above 4 programs.

Im wondering why just 1 PC is affected as its the least used of the 3 on the LAN, and how I can get rid of it for good. The PC thats ADSL connected does not suffer this malady.

Thanks..........John in Mosgiel.

393951 2005-10-06 19:10:00 Have you try clearing those spyware with Microsoft's own AntiSpyware? It is quite effective in detecting and clearing nasty wares. Have you read the PressF1 Spyware FAQ yet? (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 16) Have you try safe mode spyware scanning using anti-spyware utilities?

Cheers :)

393953 2005-10-06 20:52:00 It may be coming through an open Windows messenger facility.

Have a look at the GRC site (www.grc.com) where it is fully explained, and there is i nifty little program to turn it off/on
