394799 2005-10-10 01:47:00 I have a new computer with Windows XP. I installed an HP 930c printer on it using the drivers built into Windows. This seemed to be responsible for me getting the following error message occasionally after I boot. “Generic Host Process for Win32 services encountered a problem and needed to close”. Is this a serious problem that needs fixing, or needn’t I worry? The computer seems to be working alright with it. Thanks. ssssss (2100)

394801 2005-10-10 02:05:00 Yes, OK. I haven't got the drivers on the CD as it is an older printer, but I should download them from the internet. (Actually I am not connected to the internet at the moment, but will do it when I am). In the meantime, I hope it will be safe to keep using my computer. I could try anyway, I suppose. ssssss (2100)
394802 2005-10-10 02:26:00 You should be safe enough. The system seems to be protecting itself. ;)
It's a bit odd if this is a driver supplied as part of XP ... But it would certainly pay to get a proper HP driver for XP.

When I get the proper HP driver, I suppose I should some how uninstall the XP driver first. But I can't see how to do this. It is not in Add/Remove programs.

394804 2005-10-10 23:16:00 Just select the printer in the "Printers" page, then go to its "Properties" page. Get the "Driver" tab, and that gives you the option to remove or update the driver. Graham L (2)
