| 394697 | 2005-10-09 09:47:00 | I've not been here for ages but I'm back now :) I've got a laptop and i want to be able to access tv on it, and start digitalising my videos onto cd/dvd, but I dont have a tv tuner, and I've been looking for one, to either go in my PCMCIA or USB port, but even if I find a few tuners within my budget ($175 but can be a lil flexible) i cant find anything that enables me to record teletext as well, I know its something most tuners dont really consider to record to hdd with the program, but if theres no way a tuner can record teletext directly with the program as 1 file, IS there definately a way for me to record teletext, and somehow "merge" it into the program before recording to cd, as if that is possible then I'll just get a tuner with teletext capability and go from there. But first i want to find something that enables both tv and teletext to be recorded as one file.. Can anyone help? I use a winxp home laptop, with 2 usb ports, but not sure on their versions, and 40gig hard drive. |

| 394698 | 2005-10-09 19:11:00 | Welcome back Chris Basically unless they're USB2.0 ports, you'd have to go with PCMCIA Pricespy shows there's quite a few cards within your price range. Personally I'd suggest you stay away from the MSI Vox USB tuner, I didnt have good results with it at all. You should be able to simply switch to teletext and get the channel which has the subtitles, view the normal channel and have it record just what you see. I think most these days have Teletext capabilities. Hope this helps Chill. |

And thanks for that link, will have a look at both pricespy (thanks for saying about that specific card) and the reveiws website, will give both a read over and go from there :) |
