395526 2005-10-12 07:42:00 How do I turn off the music that plays automatically whenever I log on and log off Windows XP (home) ? I want to be able to perform this task silently without fanfare! nzguru (8828)
395527 2005-10-12 07:45:00 Control Panel / Sounds & Audio devices / sounds tab.

Select the sound, change it to None, under sounds on the bottom.

395528 2005-10-12 07:47:00 Go to the Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices and click the Sounds tab. In the list of Program Events are "Exit Windows" and "Start Windows". You can turn off sounds for these events or choose your own sound to play when you log on or off.

Have a look at some of the other events in that list - you can have custom sounds for all of them - and there are different websites around with whole sound schemes you can download.

Edit: Can't beat Speedy can I? Oh well.

Only a mere 2-minute difference... You got to get the pole position in the future... :D

Cheers :)

I kid you not :waughh:Hey, that would be cool! :D

At work, there is nothing more boring than hearing the WinXP loading theme over and over and over each morning as the pc's all boot up

. . . very tempted to change mine at work now ;)

Actually, I was a bit bored one day at work so decided to change someone's new email notification to an Austin Power's wav file which said, "You got mail baby!" . I never told them I had done this, and the look on their face was priceless as they tried to figure out where this sound was coming from :p

Do you normally shut down all the computers after a day's work? I thought most offices choose to standby their computer overnight rather than shutting down and rebooting the next morning? I also heard that the only time that offices shut down their computer is during long holidays . :stare:

Cheers :)

395534 2005-10-12 10:01:00 I don't work in an office - far from it ;)

Most PC's run 24/7, the one's which are not required 24/7 get shut down when the user leaves for the day. Mine always gets shutdown when I am not at work for security reasons.

Work at home? Work in the jungle? Work at very extreme places like Siberia and such? Mystifying, indeed .

Cheers :)
