We get pre-installed OEM versions of Windows installed onto the PC's/laptops through our supplier but before we give them to the customer we have to change certain settings (i.e configure networking, change admin password, change theme look and feel, disable system restore, run windows updates, install VNC, antivirus etc...). Is there a way "post install" to automatically configure any of these settings? unfortunently as we dont install the OS we cant use slipstreaming or anything such as nliteos. Thanks Robert |

| 395396 | 2005-10-12 06:26:00 | I'd look into a scripting language such as AutoIt (www.autoitscript.com) (v3). You could even create a simple gui with a bunch of checkboxes etc if you got really keen. I find it easier to try and find command line options/registry changes that will do what you want e.g. change password via command line (www.petri.co.il) and just get AutoIt to execute them. |

I'd start here; www.microsoft.com Theres also some good stuff here; www.microsoft.com One other thought - why can't you re-install XP? You just need an install CD which works with the XP serial keys that are supplied with the PCs. |
