395339 2005-10-11 23:39:00 Is there any way I can password protect or not allow unauthorised access to files on a flash drive?

Regards

395341 2005-10-12 00:07:00 Depends if the flash drive came with a program that lets you do it.

Like the transcend flash drives, let you format the drive, make a secure partition on it, lets u boot from it, and lets you password protect it.

Try axcrypt (http://axcrypt.sourceforge.net/) ...

395343 2005-10-12 09:00:00 My father had a similar problem.

Ive put him on to Truecrypt. Now he keeps the truecrypt files (Approx 1MB) on the Thumbdrive, as well as a virtual encrypted drive.

Means that any Windows PC he plugs it in to, he can open the sucker up on without having to run through a lengthy install process etc.

That and I told him to stick with Blowfish encryption :)

395344 2005-10-12 09:54:00 I have a SwissBit flash drive which has an inbuilt security programme enabling the setting of a password to all or part of the contents. It uses a small programme called Securelock. Don't know how secure it really is, but..... Scouse (83)
