395231 2005-10-12 08:14:00 Hold up?

How does the video look when viewed on PC? AFTER you've gone and saved it to your HDD?

Im presuming that once its been saved to your HDD that you then are opening it in multiple apps to edit?

If its not captured any good, who cares what the burn is like!

395232 2005-10-12 08:20:00 OK there isnt like a mode switch on the camera itself is there?

Like VCR/OFF/Camera??

If yours has the camera mode, turn the camera on from the mains, connect the firewire cable, and switch it to camera .

Or whatever other settings it has on it, to turn it on .

XP SHOULD detect it as soon as you select the right one .

NOTE: Also, XP if it DOES detect it, will bring up a dialog box saying it has deteced it, and it will also show the camera's icon in My Computer (And it'll also show the name of the camera, in My computer) .

And it will also let you view what you're looking at . . . . In My computer (Or SHOULD) . Once XP has detected it .

Just by turning the cam on, (from the mains, and if its got some kind of mode switch, and it isnt switched to the right mode), XP wont see / detect it .

395233 2005-10-12 08:37:00 Why do I get the feeling we're going backwards here.....?!

The camera has already been connected fine, video captured and media burnt.

Am I missing something??

395234 2005-10-12 08:39:00 Well as he said its crap .

No harm in trying to get the firewire to work . If the cam, can use firewire .

395235 2005-10-12 08:47:00 But you havent even identified the Capture Resolution yet, correct? Chilling_Silence (9)
395236 2005-10-14 04:59:00 I have now gone back to trying to get the firewire to work (if its going to give a better picture). I installed the PCI firewire contoller in my pc. Plugged the camera power on at the wall, turned the camera on, and then turned the computer on. The device manager showed that the firewire card was installed and had no conflicts. I then used the Ulead Studio programme, but when I went to 'capture', I got the message "either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected" I then tried Moviemaker, but got the message" a video capture device was not detected"
On my camera screen is" DV In". And that is far as I have got to. Any Ideas from here? webbie.

395237 2005-10-14 05:42:00 Did you try switching between VCR/VTR or whatever settings are on the cam??

Exit any programs, and see if u hear a "ding" when u switch between the different modes the cam has on it.

If u hear a "ding" check device manager for something like Sony something.

I have a feeling XP doesnt have a driver for this cam, to use the firewire on it.

The funny thing is, it looks like Windows 2000 has a driver, but not XP?!

395238 2005-10-14 06:28:00 OK well I got the manual .

Looks like you have to switch the power switch to player . Did you do this oldies?? While it was connected?

This maybe the same as if you were dubbing a video by the looks of it .

395239 2005-10-14 07:45:00 I am using "player" settings, which were set before I turned the pc on.
Also on the back of the box, that the firewire card came in, it has"supports plug and play, no need to install driver".

395240 2005-10-14 08:04:00 The firewire card itself will be fine .

XP will definitely install the drivers for the firewire card .

It's the camera itself, it's XP (from what I've read doing a search on Google), that doesnt have the drivers for the camera itself . So XP wont detect it .

Some forums say Windows 2000 has drivers for your camera, BUT Windows XP doesnt by default!

Which sounds similar to my digital video cam . BUT the other way round .

Windows 2000 doesnt detect my digital video cam, BUT XP does!

Have u installed SP1 or 2 for XP??

Everything you plug into a system (digital camera, usb devices, and digital video cameras), need drivers . So the system KNOWS what its looking at . What to install (as in the driver) . And what the device does .
