395701 2005-10-12 20:22:00 My loading of web pages has been slow of late.
A test from Xtra says it is doing 64 kbps,if I look at local network speed it says 100mbps.
I might add that I have exceeded my 1gig thing and would expect to be on dial up speed.
What does all this mean?

395702 2005-10-12 20:38:00 64kbps is the broadband equivalent of dialup speed. You have been speed limited. PaulD (232)
395703 2005-10-12 21:02:00 And the 100Mbs speed is between your computer and your modem. Rob99 (151)

Orcon is known to "shape" its bandwidth for users, so people who use p2p experience slower speeds. Thats what gibler means by eat slowly.

And also, they have discontinued new connections to their unlimited plan, as have most (if not all??) ISPs.

I got in in time though! :D

395710 2005-10-13 11:52:00 So Orcon slow the speeds of heavy downloaders? does this sometimes happen or always? and how much to they reduce your speed too? probably best to stay with Xtra then. But their prices are still :annoyed: :yuck: Bazman (6587)
