| 396377 | 2005-10-14 23:13:00 | I have a 17" monitor to dispose of. It is stuffed, and has been replaced by a nice bright colourful model. What is the best method of disposal? | wotz (335) | ||

| 396382 | 2005-10-15 02:17:00 | The inorganic collection takes them if you want to wait +- a year for it to come around. Pretty sure they just end up in the tip though. There was a computer recycler in the South island I think, but they ran out of room a year or so ago. | Shortcircuit (1666) | ||
| 396383 | 2005-10-15 02:38:00 | We have the same problem at my work. In the end we found some guy who says he takes them apart to recycle them. Or they go to local schools as part of teaching computing. Still the "monitor guy" hasn't been back for a while and there is still a relatively large pile still sitting around. The reality is that no one would want a 15'' CRT and the 17'' or higher have to be of some good quality (and most I look at in the pile are dodgy e.g. fuzzy or dim). I don't missing carrying them around. And yes we did put out the word they were free but even the most hardcore scavengers didn't take a look at them  |
