If its showing a ? delete it and reboot. If this doesnt work, check the BIOS to see if USB / high speed is enabled. Did you build the system yourself? Check device again for any other ?'s. If there are any ?'s whats it for? |

2005-10-14 20:51:00 | Looks like something hasnt been installed for USB 2 . Or it hasnt been enabled in the BIOS . There should be something like 82801EB Enhanced Host Controller in Device manager . I would check the manual if u have it, and look thru the BIOS again for the USB option / settings . Its either disabled, or you havent installed a driver or something from the mobo CD (If u have it), to enable USB 2 . There are no ? X, or !'s in device manager are there? I would say Standard USB is USB 1 . 1 .

2005-10-14 21:06:00 | Yep, you need WinXP sp1 or 2 for usb support (if you've got either you're half way there). You must install drivers for usb2 support from motherboard CD and this sounds like the most likely problem (I think most m/boards would already have usb2 support set as default, so this is less likely. If you're not sure if the drivers are installed from the m/board CD it won't hurt to stick the CD in and try installing them again (don't forget to reboot!)

2005-10-14 22:12:00 | It wont be the USB 2 driver, thats the prob . If SP1 or 2 has already been installed, the USB 2 drivers off the mobo cd wont install / arent needed . What is missing in device manager? There must be an entry with a ? beside something, in device manager somewhere . Go thru the device manager and tell u what has a ? beside it .

2005-10-14 22:38:00 | You should check in device manager: control panel> system> hardware> device manager then expand the universal serial bus controllers tree . If any of the entries say 'enhanced serial . . . ' then you have usb2 support installed . You could also try downloading the usb2 drivers direct from M/soft here: . microsoft . com/download/d/5/d/d5dc65b3-fda4-454f-813d-ae4ca2638c87/WindowsXP-KB822603-x86-ENU . exe" target="_blank">download . microsoft . com
