| 395943 | 2005-10-14 02:04:00 | After I installed Open Office and opened a document directly, Open Office started and opened that doc. To access the doc in it's original form e.g MSWord it was necessary to start MSWord and then open the doc I disabled Open Office and now can't directly open any doc as I get a message "Windows can't find soffice.exe" This is an Open Office file. I have to start the MS app. and then open the doc from there. Open Office has put something in each of my documents. How do I remove/ correct this? |

If you go into Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types and look for the .doc extension you will be able to change the program you prefer it to open with. Just go and select MS Word. For the files which now have something on the end of them, I am presuming you mean they don't have .doc extensions anymore but .odt or .sxw extensions? In this case you need to reinstall OpenOffice and open up those documents. This time go File > Save As and under the File Type drop down list select Microsoft Word. This converts them back to the Microsoft file format. |
