Install handwriting recognition

This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean language versions of Microsoft Office .

On the Microsoft Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel .

Double-click Add/Remove Programs .

Click Change or Remove Programs, select Microsoft Office XP, and then click Change .

Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next .

Under Features to install, next to Office Shared Features, click .

Next to Alternative User Input, click , click Handwriting, and then select the type of installation you want .

Click Update .

395848 2005-10-16 05:36:00 PJ, speech recognition is included as part of Office 2003 .

Not in any earlier versions .

I think it may work for Taly, but my 2 finger typing is still much faster for me . . .

395849 2005-10-16 05:43:00 Speech recog is also in Office XP. Well it installed from the cd on the hdd here. As well as handwriting recognition.

The option is in Tools/Speech in Word. It'll ask u to put the cd in to install the files for it.

395851 2005-10-16 06:59:00 Just one more question to get it clear in my mind.
When you write or print on the pad, is that what appears on the PC Monitor? Or does the writing/printing translate to typed text?
Ok thats two questions. Thanks PJ

Taly.... Thanks for the use of your thread. PJ

395852 2005-10-17 08:21:00 Metla.. I hereby admit that you are a far, far, far better computor expert than I will ever be.
It is installed, the arrow moves with the pen, but nothing appears on screen. What am I missing. PJ

395854 2005-10-17 08:43:00 Metla . . I hereby admit that you are a far, far, far better computor expert than I will ever be .

In which program?

Fire up the coral Painter program bundled with it and see if you can paint, try it with the mouse and the brush .

This will at least tell you if its working correctly . There is also a tablet icon in your task bar to set it up

A couple of those little programs that came with it let you write messages but I dont think they convert to text .

Moving onto Office . . . . Um . . . . . . This thread knows more then I, did you do as suggested above?, The handwriting to text module of Office wasn't installed by default on mine .

For everyone else, I lent PJ my tablet to see if it would fit his needs, I didn't sell him an item that wasn't upto the job . . . . .
