| 396588 | 2006-06-18 20:54:00 | I had the same problem, and a couple things I tried: First, it seems to have to do with icon spacing... and widths in desktop properties. This seems to be a problem when desktop is not set to a standard theme especially if the start menu is set to "classic." (right click the start button and select "properties" to toggle between the XP style start menu and the classic one OR in the appearance tab of display properties (see below.*) Second, there is some control which causes these tooltips to hide behind the taskbar in certain circumstances. First try adjusting your icon spacing and border widths in display properties (right click on an empty area of the desktop, select properties, go to the appearance tab, then click the "advanced" button.. and adjust some settings in the area marked ITEM: [scroll to "icon," "icon spacing (vertical)" and "icon spacing (horizontal)" and "active window border" and "inactive border" width ( 1 should be sufficient.. possibly 2 will work better for you.)] *Also in the appearance tab you will also find a setting for "windows and buttons," mine has an extra one for "media center" but also the xp and classic settings. Second, if you have inadvertently double clicked on the border just above the clock or the start button, XP may then put both "click here to begin" and the date on the clock behind the taskbar. Quick fix is SINGLE click on the same area (border of the taskbar above the clock) and the tooltip should act normally. Hope these work for you. Janitorman |
