396184 2005-10-14 22:49:00 See if there is an ide inf file install on the motherboard cd.

(One of the install menus). If there is, install this. And reboot.

Who installed XP on this system? The shop, or you?

396185 2005-10-14 23:13:00 ide inf = No
Would it stuff things up if I try and reinstall SP2 ???
Jesta (3872)
396186 2005-10-14 23:34:00 No, dont think it'll make a diff if u reinstall SP2 .

Install the chipset drivers, off the cd, if u havent installed them yet .

Then reboot

And try deleting the USB controllers entry in device manager (press the delete key on the keyboard) . And reboot . They'll reinstall after u reboot .

396187 2005-10-14 23:35:00 I'd say it can't hurt to reinstall sp2. It definitely looks like the drivers didn't install if you have no advanced usb in device manager.

One other thing that might be doing it is if you have an additional NIC card installed (a card that gives you an extra 5 odd usb plugs on the back of your computer case) as these require their own drivers to work. A long shot as I wouldn't have thought Ascent would have installed the card without you asking for one.

Other than that I'm stumped.

396188 2005-10-14 23:47:00 I guess its possible (but odd) that Ascent might have imaged your machine with an XP image which doesn't quite have the right drivers for your chip-set. Have you tried going here;
www.msi.com.tw
and downloading/installing the latest system drivers for your mboard?

If this does happen to fix it, a re-install of your OS might be worth considering - you should always attempt to install the chipset drivers as early in this sequence as possible.

Jesta (3872)
396190 2005-10-15 02:59:00 It must be the BIOS then, USB 2 must be disabled .

Or on full speed, not high speed .

Since all the drivers for it are installed .

You did install the XP drivers not the x64 ones didnt you?
Speedy Gonzales (78)
396191 2005-10-15 03:29:00 In the bios I see

USB Controller = Enabled
USB Memory Type = Shadow ...Other Option = Base Memory (640k)
USB KB Storage Suport = Disabled
USB Mouse Support = Disabled

Yes I did install the XP drivers not the x64.
Jesta (3872)
396192 2005-10-15 03:37:00 Enable these 2

USB KB Storage Suport = Disabled
USB Mouse Support = Disabled

I dont know what KB Storage support means, but we'll soon find out!

Unless it means the same as USB Mass Storage.

Then see if the camera works.

Since a USB camera can also be a USB Mass storage device

396193 2005-10-15 03:46:00 Done
Start Camera and get the same message
There are no HI-SPEED USB host controllers installed on this computer
