| 395898 | 2005-10-13 20:08:00 | Greetings all, Im hoping my 19" CRT isnt on its way out. Ive try moving it around on the desk (Its a door turned desk so its quite long) hoping that it'll get rid of the green tinge on the right-hand side. Basically (lucky for me) the day that I brought home a 15" LCD was the day that I noticed it first. Since then its basically sat off, ive been using the LCD. However now Ive built a PC for my brother, going to give him the LCD, and im hoping the CRT can be fixed.. Please please please tell me this can be repaired :( I've just taken a pic with my Cellphone, I'll throw it online shortly so you can all see what I mean. Many thanks Chill. |

Happened to me when I stuck a magnet to the screen for fun. Big colourful blob in the middle of the screen. Fortunately went away before my parents got home. |

If not, try a magnetic screwdriver and start in the middle of the screen with the tip of the screwdriver just above the glass. Make circles with the screw driver slowly getting bigger and bigger until you get to the edge of the screen. This might fix it. |

| 395902 | 2005-10-14 01:35:00 | Try turning it off at the wall for about 20 minutes, then back on. Quite often the degauss circuit doesn't work from standby mode, just power on/off. The degauss circuit usually uses a PTC ( Positive Temperature Coefficient) , which initially is a low resistance but increases as current passes through it. Hence the need for the 20 minutes cooldown time. If it doesn't depart with a few attempts as above, you will need a degauss wand which is more powerfull. |

Do NOT try this at home folks, all you would do would be stuff it up more. Static magnetic fields are a no-no. Only AC fields can demagnetise a CRT. Presuming you have degaussed a few times Chill, try rotating the screen to an E-W orientation, degauss again and report results (or phone me if you like). Could be a shifted shadowmask if it has been banged or bumped at all. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 395906 | 2005-10-14 08:47:00 | similar thing happened to my tv they all got crt..so.. and the fix was just to turn it off..unplug and leav it off over night and the problem is gone hopefully might work for ur monitor.. |
