| 397247 | 2005-10-18 00:26:00 | Hi i had this problem for since one month ok. So when i put a cd into the drive nothing happens. Any kind of cd e.g music games. It just keeps saying Please insert a disc into drive D:. Can someone help me please maybe a option is disabled or something i don't know:( | Trema (9042) | ||

| 397250 | 2005-10-18 03:19:00 | Sounds like a dead CD drive. How old is the computer? Probably the easiest solution is to buy a new drive. They're cheap and easy to install. |

| 397251 | 2005-10-18 03:51:00 | But first, it's time to touch something inside. :D Open the box up, and make sure the cables going to the CD are properly in. I'll assume the power connector is OK, because you can open and close the tray. That's the one with foiru wires going to it. The one to look at is the wide flat cable. Make sure it's plugged in to the CD drive, and the motherboard. Push hard on the back of the connectors. But CD drives do die. Check the guarantee expiry date, though, before you buy a new one. A friend bought a DVD/CD-RW combo drive for $59 recently, so look for specials if you do need to buy one. |

| 397253 | 2005-10-18 20:30:00 | Ok i didnt have this computer for a long time only 2yrs. I forgot to tell you guys that when i put the disk in it doesnt spin it just keeps asking to put the cd in. If you want to ask me anything go ahead. I checked inside and everything is plugged in propely and i pushed it all in it still doesnt work. |

| 397254 | 2005-10-18 21:56:00 | A few things to check Beside Power connection and Flat broad IDE cable connection did you check the Audio connection usually hidden at the opposite end to Power connection. There are four small screws on the side of the mounting holding the drive in place, check these are tight. If you have Everest Home Edition installed it will give you details of the drive plus it may state details of any problems You don't say what Operating system you are using but have a look at Device Manager for any Yellow symbols plus any other info. Presume you are using antistatic precautions when fossicking around inside. CD ROM drives can just die and replacement is usually the easiest answer, if you do replace ensure you use the screws supplied as screws too long can damage the new drive. |
